A Turkish tent city is  providing shelter for almost 10,000 Somalis in Mogadishu, the head of  Turkish charity the Red Crescent’s (Kızılay) delegation to Somalia told  the Anatolia news agency on Monday.
Safak Lostar said almost 10,000  Somali people are staying in 1,700 tents set up in the Somali capital of Mogadishu. “We will raise the total number of tents to 2,000 in the  coming days,” Lostar told Anatolia.

Lostar said Kızılay is meeting the food needs of Somalis in the  temporary encampment. The Turkish aid group has also set up water  distribution points and toilets at the tent site, Kızılay’s head said.
According to Lostar, a mobile bakery set up at the tent city is  producing 16,000 loaves of bread a day, and the charity is cooking and  distributing hot meals to 10,000 people each day as well.
Somalia is struggling with one of the worst droughts in the past 60 years.
The epicenter of the drought lies on the three-way border shared by  Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia, a nomadic region where families heavily  depend on the health of their livestock.
Tens of thousands of people have so far been displaced due to the humanitarian situation in the region
