HARGEISA(Somalilandpress)-Somaliland President H.E Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud (Silanyo) has welcome delegation from Turkey that consist of six member delegation led by the Turkish ambassador to Somalia Mr Hani Torun. This is the second delegation from Turkey to visit in a period of two weeks, the other delegation before the ambassador was Turkeys International Cooperation and Development Agency’s (TIKA) Somali Program Coordinator Abdulahad Kokdagi accompanied by representative of the Turkish Prime Minister.
The Turkish Ambassador Mr Hani Torun said that Turkey and Somaliland enjoyed good relations and the purpose of his visit was to strengthen existing relations and that his government is willing to assist Somaliland through technical and protect assistance in the fields such as agricultural development , irrigation, health and education. Ambassador Hani said that assessment team from his country are due to arrive in Somaliland soon so as to determine which sectors need to be addressed and that archaeological team will rehabilitee sites that are related to past Turkey history in Somaliland.
The Turkish envoy said Hargeisa general hospital is to get first priority with medical equipment for the hospital due to arrive soon, he also added Turkey will build two ultra modern secondary school in Somaliland in the upcoming months in an effort to upgrade the quality of education, also that in the future its expected businessmen from Turkey will be coming in the country so as to lay the ground work for establishing trade with Somaliland ,many Turkish owned industries expected to be set up in the country in the near future.
President Silanyo told the visiting the two countries shared historical relationship dating to the time of the Ottoman Empire, President Silanyo said that he reckoned that the Turkish Foreign Policy toward africa is not only based on economic and trade objectives but also incorporates a comprehensive approach which includes initiating much need development through project assistance he once again thanked the Prime Minister and the people of Turkey for the brotherly support to Somaliland.
President Silanyo is expected to travel to Turkey to meet the Prime Minister of that country soon.
